In the spirit of continuity and community, the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition welcomes you to Squirrel Hill Magazine. Why the welcome? After all, the magazine has been around for years, thanks to publisher, Morris Grossman.

Two years ago , the Coalition began looking into creating a new publication to replace our newsletter. In walked Morris Grossman, owner of Dalmo Optical on Forbes Ave., with a proposition: would the Coalition be interested in taking over and continuing the magazine? Over the winter and spring, our Board examined the idea and worked out an arrangement with Morris.

We have worked on adding more in the way of community information, however, such as brief reports by some of the Coalition’s standing committees.

So even though there will be a change at the top, The Coalition is committed to continuing the great neighborhood publication that Morris Grossman started, with his own money and untold hours of his time. We acknowledge and thank him for his commitment to Squirrel Hill.

In addition to continuing to produce a free, nonprofit, quarterly, community-oriented magazine to over 22,000 businesses and households, we hope to one day send the magazine out to the entire 14th Ward! With the support of our advertisers, we hope to make this a reality soon.
